Tell the other person as often as possible: “Thank you for knowing when something bad is happening to me.”
Even though partners are basically two strangers, thanks to time spent together and attention focused on each other, the one who really knows and loves the other, can see pain in the eyes even when everyone else believes the artificial smiling facade. One is not born with this ability, but gains it through getting to know each other. The perfect partner makes the effort to understand you, although it may be simpler and easier to ignore your pain. Understanding requires something extra – special kindness and patience. Yes, it requires extra effort. But in a relationship, something extra always counts.
